What free for life means
Section titled “What free for life means”| Price | Free. No subscription and no one-time fee. |
| Trial | None. Nothing expires and nothing locks after a number of days. |
| License key | None. The app never asks you to activate it. |
| Account | None. You don’t sign in to use any feature. |
| Feature limits | None. The proxy, every debugging tool, Insights, the API client, cloakctl and the MCP server are all included. |
The download page at subcloak.com/apps/cloak-proxy asks for your name and email address before the download starts. The app itself doesn’t contact Subcloak: it has no sign-in, license check or activation.
What’s included
Section titled “What’s included”The API client is part of the same free app as the proxy.
Everything runs on your Mac
Section titled “Everything runs on your Mac”Cloak Proxy has no servers of its own. Captured traffic, rules, settings, the root certificate and your API client workspace all stay on your Mac. Traffic leaves your Mac only to reach its real destination, and data goes elsewhere only when you choose to, for example when you publish a Gist.
Because of that, Cloak Proxy doesn’t offer hosted features. Use these instead:
| Hosted feature in other tools | In Cloak Proxy |
|---|---|
| Sharing logs online or cloud storage for sessions | Save sessions, export HAR, or publish a Gist |
| Team workspaces and synced rules | Export and import rules as JSON, and keep the API client workspace in a Git repository |
Platforms
Section titled “Platforms”Cloak Proxy is a Mac app. It runs on macOS 14 Sonoma or later, on Apple silicon and Intel Macs.
To debug phones, tablets, simulators and other computers, run Cloak Proxy on your Mac and point the device at it. See Devices. For news about other platforms, see subcloak.com.
